January 2015, we, Rieneke and Thijs Leenders, started our second honeymoon around the world. Accompanied by our dog Kakao, we chose to travel slow and simple, living in a twenty foot Mercedes Sprinter camper. We get excited when we find the most beautiful and exotic places the world has to offer. After decades of settled life, it takes a while to get used to the gypsy way again, but we see it progressing.
We started a blog on this site, but chose to continue blogging on our site secondtimearoundtheworld.wordpress.com

A little more detail about Thijs:
Thijs has retired from working as global sourcing manager in the horticultural industry for the last 25 years and as an independent horticultural consultant during the last 3 years. Together with Rieneke, he designed and built their 100 square foot home on wheels, experimenting with special systems to help keep the environmental footprint as small as possible.
A little more detail about Rieneke:
As a realist artist working in watercolors, acrylics and oils, Rieneke prefers to explore ethnic characteristics and human emotions through portraiture and figurative work. Her most important work so far is “Women of the World”, a social commentary series, which has been exhibited throughout the state of Virginia, in Maryland, and at the World Bank in Washington, DC. Her book “Women of the World” shows the entire series combined with stories of the women portrayed.
Thijs and Rieneke hail from the Netherlands; they have two adult sons, and three grandchildren
