Rieneke Leenders was born in the Netherlands. She lived and traveled in many places around the world. As a realist artist working in watercolors, acrylics and oils, she prefers to explore ethnic characteristics and human emotions through portraiture and figurative work. Her most important work so far is “Women of the World”, a social commentary series, which has been exhibited throughout the state of Virginia, in Maryland, and at the World Bank in Washington, DC. Her book “Women of the World” shows the entire series combined with stories of the women portrayed.
